Practical Tips on Buying a Great Used Car

The best way to save money when purchasing a used car is to avoid the dealer and buy from an individual. Who knows, maybe you’ll find your dream car hiding in some family’s driveway — of course, you should still take some basic precautions before meeting someone with a used vehicle in their hands.

Think about what type of vehicle you’re looking for: do you want an SUV? Sedan? Truck? These are considerations for a future used car buyer that need to be taken into account in order to narrow down the field and find what your needs are.

But, once you are looking for used cars in el cajon, the next step is finding a qualified individual who has what you’re searching for. The questions can be as simple as “What’s your income?” and as complex as “What are your best days to look?” or “What are some of the major issues with your vehicle, and how much would they cost to repair”?

Some important factors to consider when buying from an individual:

-Make sure they have financial proof of this money. Prove that they can physically buy the vehicle. Show proof of a checking account. Do not meet someone who may have claimed he had been in a motorcycle accident within 6 months and was unable to drive because of that accident.

-Do not buy a car from someone who is “looking to sell by this weekend”. You want to see that the individual has owned a car for a long period of time rather than just looking to make some quick money.

-If you are in a position where you are trusting someone else with such an expensive purchase, and you have any uneasy feelings whatsoever, reconsider your decision.

-Look at the person’s hometown newspaper, as well as their criminal record. The larger the town, the better chance you have that they haven’t committed any crimes and are trustworthy. If there is ANYTHING suspicious about their record or information, pass on it altogether.

Conclusion.

Buying a used car from someone else makes sense, especially for people who do not want to go through the hassle of negotiating with a dealership. You don’t need to worry about the dealer having some shady history or them playing on you to get what they want.

Buy from individuals, on the other hand, may not be possible for everyone. When buying a car from an individual, it’s definitely worth considering what your needs are and whether or not you’ll still be able to purchase the right vehicle.
